The Design—Crochet Sweater Pattern
Elevate your wardrobe with this modern crochet sweater pattern, designed to create a knit-like, ribbed button-up pullover perfect for fall or winter. This timeless and classic crochet pullover features a cozy fit, a stylish collar, and textured stitches that add warmth and structure. Whether you're looking for a staple fall sweater or a layering essential, this pattern is a must-have. Get started today and craft a handmade piece that blends comfort with effortless style!
The sweater is constructed side-to-side by making two panels—a front and back panel, then seaming them together at the shoulders and sides. Then, adding the collar, button band, and sleeves.

Fit + Sizing
The Timber Pullover has a comfortable oversize cropped fit. It features a straight body, long tapered sleeves shaped by short rows, and 1x1 knit-like ribbing along the bottom hem, cuffs, and fold-over collar. Bottom hem and cuffs are worked into the panels and sleeves while the collar and button band are applied. Sizing is based on Craft Yarn Council's standards.
It is designed to have a positive ease of 7-11. To select your size, measure your bust and find the garment circumference in the chart that matches approximately 7-11" larger. If you prefer to have more or less ease, select the garment circumference that reflects that number in inches compared to your measured bust in inches. I have a 34" bust and am wearing a size small for 8" of ease.

st markers
(4) 25mm buttons
Gauge

Yarn Substitutions
The yarn I used is WeCrochet Woolen Cotton in undyed/bare, consisting of 50% wool and 50% cotton. This yarn is labeled as a DK weight yarn, but many worsted weights could work, as well. When/If substituting yarn, I recommend using a yarn that has some structure. Make sure you make a gauge swatch. Small differences in gauge can lead to big differences in project outcome. For more on gauge, you can read this blog. Below are some suggested yarn substitutions worth exploring. Keep in mind I have not tested these. I have simply compared label gauge and looked at fiber content. You can also use yarnsub.com to help you find substitutions.
