Introducing the Nantucket Vest. It only took me an entire year to complete this design. 🤦🏼♀️ Last year I had it nearly complete when I realized I missed one minor detail while writing it up that impacted enough of what I had done to cause me to come unhinged. So, I frustratingly put it in time out. I nearly forgot about it, but I spent about 15-20 hours this past weekend putting my big girl pants on and powering through to get it done.

The Design
The Nantucket Vest is a preppy style vest featuring a modern bobble texture. It's perfect for layering with your favorite chambray button-up or basic t-shirt.
Fit + Sizing
The Nantucket Vest has a boxy fit, crew neck, mid-length, and ribbed edging. It's generously sized, but not too oversized. Sizing is based on Craft Yarn Council's standards.
It is designed to have a positive ease of 6-8". To select your size, measure your bust and find the garment circumference in the chart that matches approximately 6-8" larger. If you prefer to have more or less ease, select the garment circumference that reflects that number in inches compared to your measured bust in inches.
Size | Bust Circum. | Garment Circum. |
XS | 28-30" | 36" |
S | 32-34" | 40" |
M | 36-38" | 44" |
L | 40-42" | 48" |
XL | 44-46" | 52" |
2XL | 48-50" | 56" |
3XL | 52-54" | 60" |
Materials
As written, you'll need:
approximately 847(977, 1114, 1260, 1410, 1569, 1737) yds of WeCrochet Might Stitch Worsted, or an equivalent yarn.
Other materials you'll need:
4mm crochet hook
5mm crochet hook
tapestry needle
scissors
Yarn Substitutions:
Might Stitch is labeled as a category 4 worsted weight yarn. I feel like this yarn is fairly close to a true worsted, but might consider it a little on the lighter side of a worsted. The nice thing is that there are so many yarns that could probably substitute really well. If substituting, however, I highly recommend making sure you make a gauge swatch. Small differences in gauge can lead to big differences in project outcome. For more on gauge, you can read this blog.
Lion Brand Basic Stitch | Basic Stitch is an anti-pilling yarn that is great for garments that will be getting a lot of use, and is easy care (machine washable).
Lion Brand Jeans | Jeans is full of character and comfort, and is a great choice for any sweater or garment (also machine washable).
Lion Brand Heartland | Heartland is a popular and sensationally soft, premium acrylic comes in heathered and tweedy shades inspired by the natural beauty of the American landscape (also machine washable).
WeCrochet Swish Worsted | Swish is a 100% fine superwash merino wool that is really soft and comes in a lot of beautiful colors.
WeCrochet Brava Worsted | Brava is a wonderful economy acrylic yarn that is only $3.49/skein. It will only cost $14(18, 21, 21, 25, 28) to make this vest with this yarn!
WeCrochet Bare Felici Worsted | I'm a big fan of this superwash merino and nylon blend. It's super soft and squishy, and is really durable.
WeCrochet Wool of the Andes Worsted | WOTA is a classic + strong, 100% Peruvian wool yarn that is great for heirloom-quality knitwear.
